I was talking to someone the other day about planting seeds of ideas in organisations then watching them grow.
We both felt that the gestation period could be long, in fact more often than not was. It may be five, ten even fifteen years before the more radical ideas in organisations get taken up and become mainstream. The prevailing obsession with quick wins and short term benefits is the complete antithesis of this.
Foresters have to plant seeds knowing that the trees that they grow into will not reach maturity until long after the forester has died.
I often feel like a forester.
