Quick policy thought

Very roughly speaking, if the BBC were to stop everything it was doing for the duration of its next charter, but still charge a license fee, this would provide it with more than enough money to buy a controlling share in Google. And so by 2016 at the latest, the UK - or its trusted bourgeois cultural custodians - would then have managerial control over all of the world's information, music, video and books. Great for the Beeb, great for the world and great for, ahem, 'UK PLC', just as long as we can all sit tight for a few years.
