Ethics

No not the county east of London but the nature of some of the decisions I have to make these days.

When I left the BBC last year I knew that I would face some ethical decisions about whether I would, or wouldn't work with certain companies. As interest in social computing grew the furthest flung fields I could imagine were finance and the most challenging situations I could imagine at the time were financial institutions with dubious morals engaged in dodgy dealings. I underestimated.

Having recently been approached by third parities on behalf of groups involved with mercenaries and nuclear weapons I now appreciate that interest in social computing has reached parts I never imagined it would reach!

And just for the record I politely declined on both occasions.
